Wives Be Subordinate To Your Husbands

Dear family and friends,

If not before, then by the time a person leaves college, he or she is ready for marriage.

I know, there are all kinds of reasons to wait, but physically and emotionally speaking, we are ready. The maturation we need will occur best in a relationship where we know someone loves us and is committed to us. We are ready to leave our birth family behind, but not leave behind committed love and family altogether.

When Michael wanted to marry me, I asked him if he were willing to give me every penny he would make for the rest of his life, and support me and our children completely until I died and, for them, until the children left home.

He said, "Sure!" And he kept saying it. Looking back, I am amazed at both of us.

Was that reason enough for me to be subordinate to him? My father had died when I was 10, leaving my mother to raise five young children, one of whom was retarded. The memory left me in fear. Could I really rely on Michael?

Deacon Michael has moving testimony and advice for men based on the quote from the title of this email. This is one sermon I really feel should be played and discussed as part of our Catholic couples preparation for marriage.
